Calvin Ridley, Alabama (6-1, 190 lbs)
Many people know the name Calvin Ridley and that is because he plays under Nick Saban at Alabama. He has performed very well on the big stage and that’s what I like about him. In his 3 years at Bama, Ridley had 220 receptions, 2749 yards, and 18 TD’s. Although Ridley is certainly talented, I’m not sure he’s worth a 1st round pick when the Cowboys could select an OL, DL, or LB in the first round and wait to take a WR in the 2nd or later in the draft.
Courtland Sutton, SMU (6-4, 215 lbs)
Sutton’s draft stock has skyrocketed as of late due to a great junior and senior season. If the Cowboys are looking to replace Dez Bryant, this is definitely the man to go after. He’s a big, strong powerful receiver, just absolutely dominating if you watch his tape. His potential is also sky high because he was a DB his freshman year and they converted him to WR. In his final 3 seasons at SMU, Sutton has 193 receptions, 3193 yards, and 31 TD’s. He is the type of guy you can throw the ball up in the red zone and he’s going to go get it. I’m not even sure if Sutton will be there at pick #19, but if he is, that’s going to be tough to pass on.
James Washington, Oklahoma State (6-0, 205 lbs)
Washington has been a solid WR for Oklahoma State for 4 years. He’s a very talented guy and is currently projected to go late 1st round or early 2nd round. In his 4 years at OK State, Washington had 226 receptions, 4472 yards, and 39 TD’s. I don’t think it’d be best for the Cowboys if they took him in the 1st round, but if Washington falls to Dallas in Round 2 I think they should strongly consider him.
Christian Kirk, Texas A&M (5-11, 200 lbs)
Kirk is currently projected to go in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He is definitely someone I could see the Cowboys drafting. Kirk is a playmaker who could really help the Cowboys offense. In his 3 seasons at A&M, Kirk had 234 receptions, 2856 yards, and 26 TD’s. If he’s there in the second round, I can definitely see the Dallas Cowboys giving Dak Prescott a fancy new weapon.
Anthony Miller, Memphis (5-11, 190 lbs)
Miller is a current 2nd round projection and is beloved by draft scouts after his impressive sophomore and junior season with the Tigers. In 3 seasons, Miller had 238 receptions, 3590 yards, and 37 TD’s. Miller would be a solid pick in the second round, but if I were to go for a shorter receiver in the second round, I would definitely go for Christian Kirk if he’s there.
There are many other WR’s in this draft that could help the Cowboys offense, but these are just a few that should all go in the first 2 rounds. Stay tuned for our articles in the near future breaking down DL, OL, and LB prospects the Cowboys could go after in the first couple rounds.
