The Dallas Cowboys improved their pre-season record to 2-1 after last nights 24-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Cowboys activated line backer Jaylon Smith in his first live game in 596 days after a gruesome knee injury suffered in his final collegiate game with Notre Dame. In addition to a key stop on 3rd down by Smith we were all treated to his patented "swipe" move.
How bout them Cowboys? How about the performance from the 1st team offense, minus Ezekiel Elliott? Dak Prescott was sensational going almost perfect at 7-8 with 106 yds adding on a td. The connection between Dak and Dez was apparent as the opening drive started and finished with completions to 88 with the latter being a 32yd strike to Dez back shoulder for a td.
It wouldn't quite be the standard pre season article without a mention of Kellen Moore and his (in) ability. Again he put up pedestrian numbers struggling to move the chains and giving the Colts a gift wrapped td after a fumble. In comes pre season celebrity Cooper Rush and he delivers every way one would want to see their teams backup perform. Two beautiful touchdown strikes by Cooper and his pre season numbers look astonishing through 3 games he's posted 26-38 completions for 283 yds and 4 tds most importantly no interceptions. The Dallas run game steam rolled as 3 backs who touched the ball Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris, and Rod Smith all rushed for over 50yds. Darren did have a red zone fumble lost but that is a non issue as he is normally sure handed.
Dallas plays Oakland next week unfortunately thats the same day as Connor McGregor takes on Floyd Mayweather. As much as I'll be watching the Cowboys play it will most likely be heavily distracted, being the "dress rehearsal" game, however it will get its due attention. Til next time #CowboysNation.
