Ball control. That was the game plan ran to perfection Sunday night as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 19-3. After being swept last season by the NFC East rival to exact revenge and get the monkey off the back was a great way to kick off the 2017-2018 campaign.

The usual suspects were there. Dak Prescott delivered by throwing for 24/39 attempts gathering 268 yds and 1 td to new record holder Jason Witten. Setting the mark for the All Time Cowboys receiving yards leader as well as netting 7 rec, most on the team,  for 59yds. Ezekiel Elliott ran like a man on a mission averaging 4.3 ypc for 104 yds adding on by catching 5 passes for 36 yds. Terrence Williams came back after tweaking his ankle early in the contest coming in to a 6 rec for 68 yds day. Cole Beasley had himself a catch worthy of searching up on YouTube and enjoying as he caught the ball pinning it to his back shoulder all while staying in bounds. Dan Bailey was Mr. Automatic once again going 4-4 connecting twice from outside 40 yards. The offense is set to roll as they did last season even though Dez got blanketed by Jack Rabbit Jenkins for 2 catches, on film however Dez had a rather good day with the matchup, Prescott missed a td as Dez got open on a slant and another that sailed a bit out of Bryants reach that could have been another touchdown.

What was telling about this game, however was the Dallas Cowboys defense. After a tumultuous offseason that saw the departure of seasoned veterans and a draft that saw the eventual replacements come in. Questions were raised as the DL suffered suspensions and how the new DBs could help. Sunday night against two time Super Bowl champ Eli Manning, the Cowboys defense responded. DeMarcus Lawrence wreaked havoc on the Giants offensive line accumulating 2 sacks. Sean Lee lead the defense with 7 tackles and it was refreshing to see Jaylon Smith play valuable minutes even forcing a fumble the Giants would be fortunate to recover. Last seasons breakout cornerback Anthony Brown was at it again letting Eli Manning believe a receiver was open before sneaking under it for the Cowboys first INT of the year. The Dallas defense was a refreshing sign coming out of the game and has plenty to be happy about playing a stretch of teams they can look to exploit in the first few weeks before a showdown with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

The Cowboys game plan worked because their offenses complements the defense. The Cowboys outpaced the Giants 34 minutes to 25 minutes in time of possession letting the defense come in rested and engage in attack mode as the New York Giants continuously struggled to form a consistent drive. Next week vs the Denver Broncos presents another formidable defense however the Cowboys know how their gameplan looks and have the personnel to accomplish it week after week. The season couldn't have got off on a better foot and plenty more victories to come til next time #CowboysNation.  #TexasStrong #PrayersForFlorida
