By Dane HowellInjuries??? Coming into the week 2 matchup, Orlando Scandrick will not be playing. Scandrick suffered a fractured bone in his hand in week 2. Because of this, he has not practiced all week. I would much rather have a corner with 2 working hands starting. You can expected to see some more of Awuzie, and maybe even some of Jourdan Lewis (he has been practicing full since Wednesday). Orlando Scandrick has been ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. the Denver Broncos. Receivers Brice Butler and Terrance Williams suffered ankle injuries in the week 1 matchup vs. the Giants. Brice Butler seemed to be fine coming into practice Monday and didn’t even make the injury report. Terrance Williams on the other hand did not practice until today. Williams had his ankle wrapped up today for practice, indicating he might have a chance in playing on Sunday. If Williams does not play you can expect to see a tiny dose of Noah Brown at outside WR. Terrance Williams is right now listed as questionable for Sunday vs. Denver and is likely to be a game time decision. FS Byron Jones had suffered a tiny groin injury in the week 1 matchup vs. the Giants. In the locker room Jones was asked about the injury and he said “everything is fine , it is just simple maintenance.” Yet it was serious enough to put Jones on the week 2 injury report. He was limited Thursday’s practice, but he was full on Friday. You can expect to see ByronJones starting and playing at 100% on Sunday night. Impact players for Week 2??? Jaylon Smith - He made his presence known on Sunday night vs. the Giants with 7 tackles and a forced fumble. He was flying all over the field making plays whenever given the opportunity. He was moving laterally with speed and he was showing real athleticism. He is my favorite to impact this game coming into this week. I would expect some spectacular plays coming from the MLB spot. Anthony Brown - The Denver Broncos have a good amount of weapons at WR, starting with Thomas and Sanders. The Denver run game isn’t much to worry about, but the passing offense will be a test for our young secondary. Anthony Brown stopped the Giants “slow” offense with an interception. I believe we will have more to come from Brown and you can expect some good plays from #30 in week 2. Sean Lee - I think this is an obvious one as for how smooth Sean Lee runs our defense. There isn’t much to be said here because we know what to expect from OLB Sean Lee. He was taking the perfect angle to the ball carrier and really being efficient on the tackling side (he lead the defense in tackles with 8). As always, you should expect Sean lee to show out against the Broncos. Runners up DE Benson Mayowa – He lead the team in sacks last year and I believe this is the game he breaks out. DE Demarcus Lawrence - He had a stand out game in week 1 with 2 sacks and I don’t want to jump the gun, but I’d love to see more from him this week. DT/NG Maliek Collins - This is supposed to be his breakout year and I’d love to see it start this game. DT/NG Stephen Paea - He really made his presence known in the middle of the trenches. I know we have a lot more to see from him Sunday.
