According to a report from Alex Marvez of Sporting News, the former Dallas Cowboys backup QB Kellen Moore will retire from the NFL and become the new QB Coach for the Dallas Cowboys. He will replace former Cowboys QB Coach Wade Wilson.
This certainly comes as a shock to many Cowboys fans, including me. I thought we had finally seen the last of Moore. Since we have no choice, I will try my best to look at the positives in this situation.
Moore is said to be a great offensive mind and appears to have a solid relationship with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. Recently, Dak Prescott told Jon Machota (of Dallas News):
“[He’s] a genius behind the scenes, who doesn’t get enough credit for what he does helping me out and helping this offense out. He’s simply a genius when it comes to helping Coach Linehan out and early in the week giving looks, helping me with little things the defense does, maybe little keys here and there to tip me off or coverages or blitzes.”
Well, this certainly wasn’t the kind of coaching change I was hoping for this offseason, but I guess we will just have to wait and see. As they say, those who can't do, teach.
