By Adam CollinsRight after the Playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers many people were dissing the Cowboys and saying that the season was a waste. While many of these people were simply bandwagons who hopped on Zeke and Dak’s back this year, I’m going to tell you the positive things we can take away from the 2016-2017 football season. From 4-12 to NFC East Champions Come on, when Tony Romo went down in the preseason, no one expected the Cowboys to be a contender with a rookie running back and a rookie quarterback they drafted in the 4th round. To improve our record by 9 games with all of this uncertainty is simply amazing. On top of improving from 4-12 to 13-3 in the regular season, the Cowboys were the 2016 NFC East Champions. Again if you were to go back to the beginning of the football season, especially after we lost to the Giants week 1, everyone counted us out and gave us no chance. To achieve this division title is certainly a positive and something we can build off of. Rookies The 2016 Cowboys draft class may arguably be the best draft class in Dallas Cowboys history when it’s all said and done. The 4th overall pick, Ezekiel Elliott, and 4th round pick, Dak Prescott, were definitely the heart and soul of this year’s team. The crazy thing is they are both in consideration for the NFL MVP, and they’re only rookies… The sky is definitely the limit for these young Cowboys. Also, rookies, Anthony Brown and Maliek Collins, had surprisingly good seasons on the defensive side of the ball. One guy we are still waiting on is 2nd round pick, Jaylon Smith. Jaylon Smith has been battling an injury in which he blew out his knee in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl. From everything I’ve heard, Smith has progressed very well this season and will be able to make his Cowboys debut in 2017. Smith alongside 2-time Pro-Bowler Sean Lee is a very scary site for any offense that the Cowboys will face. To all the people who said this season was a bust, please hop off the bandwagon and find another team. Yes, we didn't wint To improve from 4-12 to 13-3 with two rookies leading the way is simply amazing. This year was not a “Super Bowl or bust” year because we are so young. The defense obviously needs improvement but I think we will see the Cowboys draft defensively heavy in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. The Cowboys aren’t losing any huge pieces to free agency and they will be back better than ever next season. The future is so bright for the Dallas Cowboys organization. With Dak and Zeke in the driver’s seat for the next decade or so, just sit back and enjoy the ride CowboysNation. Follow Adam on Twitter @DemBoyz_News
