By Archie Nino IIIOver the last few days things seem to have cooled down and level heads prevailed. Current slot CB Orlando Scandrick was previously linked to trade rumors around day 2 of the draft, using the 30yd old vet as bait to net an additional 3rd rd pick. Most likely a barb sent by the massively invasive social media era, as recently, multiple Cowboys officials have since shut the rumor down.
The question I ask however, is has the damage already been done? A quick look over Scandricks twitter feed and you instantly see potential subliminal messages possibly directed at the Cowboys. "REAL EYES SEE REAL LIES" is one of the most recent. Among many quotes taken from Scandrick have him sounding almost bitter at the situation presented. Scandrick has been quoted saying "You try to be a leader. Give everything you got. I guess its the nature of the buisness" according to respected NFL cover woman Josina Anderson. He goes on so much to state "I know one thing, I'll be playing for someone!" I enjoy and respect 32s game but he is a 30yr old db and injury plagued. I do not believe any truth to the rumors as Jerry Jones has came out and stated "Absolutely not" and "He's a valuable member to our team." Jerry Jones also went on to say Scandrick definitely "didn't hear it from a member of the Cowboys organization." However, one would think it would best serve not just the team, but the longevity of Orlando Scandricks career if he played sparingly. Recent draft acquisition Jourdan Lewis is a tremendous nickel/slot corner and should battle Scan for playing time during camp. Chidobe Awuize should be a starting outside corner paired with off season free agent target Nolan Carroll. Leaving an interesting camp battle to follow for slot duty. As things stand now the Dallas Cowboys and Orlando, on the surface, seem to be mending the fences. Due to the posts Scandrick has made and choice comments made to media one could argue the writing is on the wall. As a veteran member of the defense I hope the issue gets resolved quickly. Hopefully Orlando isn't too bitter come training camp and helps guide and teach the rookies the right way to attack the position. Or maybe he decides to continue his path of scorned lover /middle school troll job and let this minor spark turn to a full blown wildfire. Til next time #CowboysNation.

Scandrick has always been on the outside stirring up something. How many times did he renegotiate his contract because it was never good enough? His attitude served him well when he could back it up with his play. Are those days gone?

The days of him being productive are numbered based off injuries and age at a "young mans" position.
