By Adam CollinsWith the 81st pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select... Michael Gallup, WR Colorado State Now the average fan who doesn't do much scouting past the first couple rounds may not have understood how great this pick was. After Courtland Sutton or Anthony Miller didn't fall to the Cowboys in the second round, I was very happy with our pick of OL Connor Williams. At that point in the draft I said, " I hope we can land Michael Gallup in the 3rd round if he's still there." Many people have slept on him during the draft process because he's not your normal 6'1" WR. Most guys that size are either slot guys or your typical solid route runner guys. Gallup is not like that. He plays like he's 6'4". He's the type of guy that you can throw the ball up to and he's going to find a way to come down with it. To me, the main reason he fell so far is because of the small school he played at, but hey, all he did was ball out there. Let's take a look at the numbers. In Gallup's 2 seasons at Colorado State, he totaled 176 receptions, 2,690 yards, and 21 TD's. Yes, you read those right. Over the last two seasons, Gallup is third in the entire FBS in receiving yards. I think Michael Gallup is a plug and play guy and will have a big impact his rookie season. Yes, I miss Dez as much as the next guy, but this WR core is actually shaping up pretty nice. We have Hurns, Bease, TWill, Brown, Switz, Thompson, and now Gallup. Say what you want about the school he attended or the competition that he faced, but this was a fantastic pick for the Cowboys. Just saying, All-Pro WR for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Antonio Brown, went to Central Michigan. I'm not saying Gallup will be AB like, but I can see him having a very productive and successful career for the Dallas Cowboys.
