By Logan CarterA lot of speculation has risen in the past week surrounding the next career step for the Dallas Cowboy Quarterback, Tony Romo. Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones continues to express his opinion to the storyline of Romo, after appearing on his weekly radio show “The Fan”, this past Tuesday. Jerry Jones didn’t say where the 14-year old veteran might get his next chance, but provided that he still believes Romo will play in a Super Bowl.
“I really believe that Tony Romo will play in a Super Bowl. Now try that one on”, said Jones, Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. “I know that if he’s healthy enough, he’ll be in a Super Bowl. I strongly believe that. Romo is expected to part ways with the Cowboys in the offseason, but Jones doesn’t sound like he’s ready to accept that outcome quite yet. After being specifically asked if Romo could remain with the team in 2017, Jones did not rule out that decision. Romo’s cap number of $24.7 million in 2017 stands as the highest among any quarterback in the NFL next season. Dak Prescott will be the starting quarterback in Dallas when training camp begins, putting the Cowboys in a tight situation. The big question is will the Cowboys pay a backup that kind of money or trade/ release the 36-year-old quarterback. “There’s several cards to be played, Jones continued to say. “Don’t think for one minute if you see something written or something said about what and where Romo is going to be relative to our team that there’s any credibility to it. There’s only one that can make that decision, and there’s been no decision made.” Jones completed his thoughts on Romo’s future by saying it’s “my decision”. Following Sundays loss against the Green Bay Packers, Cowboys fans have a lot to look forward to after Dak Prescott’s phenomenal performance in the 34-31 defeat. When speaking of the whole season in general, Jones said Prescott “played so well that there was never a time” Romo was considered being entered in one of their games. Jerry Jones remains Romo’s biggest fan and finished saying, “We’ve got a lot to think about here, but that’s in the future.” Romo believes he has a team in mind, but speculation points him towards the Houston Texans as of right now. Tony playing in a Super Bowl is more wishful thinking than reality. Luck has a lot to do with it and that's never really been Romo's strong suit. Danny White is the only one I've known with worse luck than Tony. Even though I support Dak it doesn't seem right Tony wouldn't get an opportunity to compete. Not much is like it used to be, no reason this'd be any different I reckon.
