By Archie Nino IIIDallas has hit home runs through the 1st three rounds in the 2017 NFL Draft. With lastest prospect being Michigan CB Jourdan Lewis. Before I discuss the talent he is, there is an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. March 15 at around 1 a.m. police responded to a domestic disturbance call at Lewis' apartment in Ann Arbor. His live in girlfriend at the time stated to police that the two began arguing over the fact Jourdan reportedly "left the lights on" thus the couple begins bickering over "who pays the bills." The report goes on to state Lewis then threw a pillow and blanket at the victim, which struck her head, before locking himself in a closet. Ultimately to get dressed and leave. From there the story goes 1 of 2 ways. She straddled him preventing him to leave provoking him to use force to pry her off. She states he dragged her and held her down by the neck. Truly disturbing if found true. Story two is he denies any such claims and says if he did touch her neck it was "accidental and not meant to assault her" but admits to throwing the blankets before he was trying to get away. Untimely allegations for sure for a player whose services would be welcomed if proven innocent. A trial is set for July 24th. With that out the way further examining the football player Jourdan Lewis you see a talented DB who jumps off the film. The 5'10 corner is relatively small considering most WRs are noticeably taller. Lewis makes up for the deficit by playing a tremendous style of man coverage. Last season Qbs threw in his directon 30 times netting only 7 completions. Another strength of his is his ability to block and help in run support as he's a sure tackler. He has been penalized a bit much and that's something DAL will have to show him proper techniques to prevent costly errors. He excels covering the deep ball as well. Passes that travel 20 or more yards through the air. In his tenure at Michigan he was targeted 57 times allowing 7 completions and 6 interceptions. Rumor suggesting Orlando Scandrick could be on the trade block, although Jerry Jones shot down the rumors. It makes sense to use a lineup of Anthony Brown, Chidobe Awuize as outside corners leaving Jourdan Lewis to play the slot. The Cowboys have hit their marks out the park through the 1st three rounds and the future is shaping up nicely for a chance to repeat as NFC east champs. Rounds 4-7 are the true "building block" player in the draft and DAL shopping Scandrick could provide other picks or other. The 2017 NFL Draft wraps up today and it will be full steam ahead to the start of camps and unofficial start to the season. It is currently an awesome time to be a Cowboys fan.
